  1. Only 13% of employees are fully engaged at work.
  2. 89% of employers think their people leave for more money, but that’s actually only why 12% of employees leave.
  3. Disengaged employees are 3X more likely to be looking for a new opportunity than engaged employees.
  4. 59% of executives reported their organizations weren’t fully ready to address the employee engagement challenge.
  5. 90% of leaders think an engagement strategy would have an impact on business success, but barely 25% have them.
  6. Companies with engaged employees outperform those without by up to 202%.

We partnered with HR.com to ask 650 HR leaders what employees need to keep them engaged and connected at work. (They could each select 3 answers.) Here’s what they said:

  1. Feeling heard (61%) – Employees need to know their opinions are valued. Let them know you’ve listened to their opinions, even if you disagree.
  2. Role and Goal Clarity (52%) – Employees need to understand what their expectations are, and how what they’re doing fits in to the organization’s goals.
  3. Opportunity to Provide Feedback to Leadership (47%) – Make sure communication with your leaders goes both ways. Employees give their best when they feel they can make a difference within their company.
  4. Improvement in Quality of Conversations (47%) – It’s not enough to just have conversations with your employees. They have to be the right conversations.
  5. Help with Fulfilling Their Goals (33%) – Don’t forget that employees have goals of their own. Know what those goals are and then find ways to work with them to help them achieve them.
  6. More Time to Connect (32%) – Make time for your employees both on a professional level, and a personal level.
