Our approach to coaching is predicated upon the belief that people are capable, phenomenal learners and that their full potential has not risen to the surface. This due to the internal disruption we feel in response to outside distractions, which we call “interference.”

The InsideOut approach helps coaches use a mindset of “how can I help this person release their potential,” rather than “what can I tell them to do that would improve their performance.”  The resulting conversation creates an environment of psychological safety and leads to increase in ownership, engagement, and results.

The Ideas That Set Us Apart

BounceHit

Many years ago, professional tennis coach Alan Fine had a breakthrough with a young tennis student who was not progressing.  Finally, he just said, ‘When you see the ball bounce, say ‘bounce.’  When you hit it, say ‘hit.’  The immediate result was a 10x improvement in performance.

Every endeavor has a ‘bounce-hit,’ or a few most impactful efforts that can be focused on to improve performance.  In a coaching conversation, the coach seeks to have the coachee discover and focus on those ‘bounce-hits.’

RLAA

Every successful implementation goes through four stages. We refer to this as RLAA.  First, Relevance must be established for those involved or the extra time and effort will not be freely volunteered.  Next, there must be a commitment to Learning, both by the organization and the team members.  Third, what is learned must be Applied, immediately, for even the best ideas die a quick death if left idle.  Finally, there must be a positive Accountability loop, recognizing successes and aiding those that are struggling.

SayDoCo

Accountability is the lifeblood of the success of a team. SayDoCo defines accountability in simple terms: Say what you will do, do it, and Communicate along the way.  Without this, projects get out of sync and deadlines stretch, costs soar, and outcome quality suffers. When team members show each other simple respect through SayDoCo, expectations are made and met, misalignments are quickly corrected, and team synergy develops while creating effective outcomes.
